How to get to… 40

Happy Birthday and I hope everyone is still going as strong in 40 more years time. Isn’t that scary?

Thanks and let it begin

Just a quick message to say thanks to all that came out to the Lost Art Birthday bash. It was a good night made all the better by the medieval theatre company who actually slayed a dragon in front of me!

Thanks again Ash and Mackey and I will see you again in 10 years!

In other news. Bring on Sunday!

Sending out an S.O.S

As you all know I am from a very small, but quite famous Lacastrian town named Accrington. There are really three things that Accrington is famous for aside from myself and they are:

1) The Milk Advert

2) The Heroic Accrington Pals of the First World War and

3) Accrington Stanley

As you may or may not know Accrington Stanley is in serious threat of no longer existing as a football team due to them owing a huge tax bill of upwards of £300,000. The reason why I haven’t chosen to comment on this up until recently is the fact that Accrington Stanley has done little or nothing to help themselves as regards how they look after their money or give back to the community that they are now urging to aid them in their time of need. Therefore I wouldn’t say I wished the worst upon the historic team, but opted to let the chips fall as they may, this was up until today.

I was talking with a man of approximately 70-years-of-age on the train, when he revealed to me that football is one of the few remaining threads running through communities in Lancashire. He also reminded me that although times change as well as the land scape, football and the teams involved in local communities are what set us apart from the rest of the world and maybe even give us a unified identity.

On that note all I would urge you to think about is how much your community means to you and how things all around you are being changed for better or worse, and if you can spare even a bit of money to make that gentleman on the train and some footballing fans across the world a little happier that their identity remains somewhat intact, then please donate here.

If you wish to read a little further into the problems at Accrington Stanley, Paul Fletcher has written a wonderful piece on the website here.

Bjorn Again

As you all know I have a bit of a sick interest in all things teen identity and the casuals are a subculture of great interest to me. So for Nick Love to make a film about them in all their glory really makes me smile, especially when it is done in a way which displays some real knowledge and passion. The Firm is out in cinemas tomorrow and anyone who can tell me where I can get my paws on one of those Fila Terrinda Jackets in baby blue I would be much obliged.

Decagon

It is Lost Art’s 10th Birthday very soon, so I thought that I would post the flyer here. These chaps have been down with T BIRDS since day one so it is only right that we should show a little love on the website. Grab your dancing shoes… I’ll see you on the floor.
