This photo below has been racking my brains for a while, I took it when I was at my happiest this year, I don’t need to tell you where I was or why I like such a poorly taken photo, there is just something about it that reminds me of how content I was.

When I sat back yesterday at a small gathering as I watched the BBC’s coverage of yet another poor New Years Eve firework display, I thought to myself how strange a year 2008 has been. From a personal standpoint I have had to really look at T BIRDS and where it is going and see how in a market place where young and old brands alike are shriveling up like old turkey, how is it best to stand out and attempt to stay relevant in an extremely competitive and omni changing industry? My thoughts have drawn me to the conclusions that you will see come to fruition this year. It would be vulgar of me to say how and what I am going to do as the old saying goes “Actions speak louder than words” and I can only hope this year my actions really do have some form of volume.

As regards the rest of the year presidents have come and gone, jobs have gone, houses have come down in price, oil has gone up in price. In a world that seems to be holding its breath for something really bad to happen I am sat here in a cozy Lancastrian town asking whether where I live will actually exist in 5 years time. Most of the shops have closed, there is very little local based industry and whatever retail market was left in the ex-cotton mill town is being driven out with cut backs and streamlining.

My hope for this year is simple, for people just to concentrate on their own business, but try and be mindful of others around them. Just spare a few thoughts for how your actions will have an effect upon others and try and prosper. Last year (2008) has told me that it is impossible to do anything without money and that giving up may be the only option. What 2009 is going to prove is that ‘they’ were wrong and hard work can beat any amount of money.

I wish everyone all the very best for 2009 and let us be chatting at the end of this year about all the great things we have done in the face of adverse circumstance. Rant over.
